American influence on the world

Ever wondered why americans call themselves different? I never wonder coz i know for sure why they are different. American society was always founded on the very word "Freedom". This word was perhaps the first think a child learns before even identifying english words or even his/her parents.

One of the other things about america and which is equally important is their power to influence other countries which were distinctively different from them for e.g.China or india. We followed americans on everything we did in the last couple of years. We followed them with MTV, we did the same with fashion brands, we did it with neverendingcrap soap operas. Although we are born in different countries we are half-americans today. Yes, dont believe yourself, but its true. Try to jot down 10 things you did which were anywhere not influenced by america. I am sure you wont come out with many...what you got 4..look closely..even they might have some influence.

It was the early stage of internet back in india and chatting was a new concept to an indian. Thankfully, i had a PC then and freakin dialup connection with a spedd of 33 KBPS. (damn..i cant even think about it.) I remember talking to an american in yahoo chat rooms, when i told him i live in mumbai, india (i used to live there before moving to singapore), he wasn't too sure about where india is. Man i couldnt stop laughing. That day i realised that most of the americans are in their own world. they feel there is nothing beyond america and america is the world for them.

Neverthless sooner or later, they realised that there is someone more power(fool) and that was Mr. Laden. The old frd of america who paid back his debts. Americans now are more literate about the world. They know where is Iraq, they also know about being banglored (loosing a job to an indian).

Whatever the globalisation gave to the asian countries is of debate but one thing for sure it gave them a "Value" and a "Image".

If americans know YOU...YOU really made a difference. Trust me its hard to make your BOSS realise your value :-)

Whoever said this was well-written was highly mistaken. Half of the words in this article are not even proper English. This article should be removed from the web it is so POORLY written.

Nicole you question the articles grammar but you don't question the ideas, because they are dead on. so, up yours. =]

thats because of the american companies, such as Lockheed Martin,GE,Pratt & Whitney, INTEL corp etc, that continously research and develop new technologies. and the large, and technnologically advaced US military. when they put both of these facts together they can influence the world.

This article talks a lot about American influence but doesn't say anything. How about America's continuing economic empire? How about the way the government convinces small countries to take enormous loans out for infrastructure, then turns around and takes 90% of the contracts? When its all done more than 50% of the country's budget goes to paying back loans which didn't help anyone (except the officials who took bribes and the ones who got the contracts).

I'm an American and I hate the way our government fudges everything up. We steal resources, exploit the impoverished (when they were living fine without our money anyway), and we turn around and say "Look at all the good we're doing in the world, we're employing thousands of people in so that they can live a better life", when the reality is these people get paid embarrassingly pathetic wages to work in terrible conditions. Back at home we live off the labor of these people and have the nerve to waste so much of it that when its Aug. 1st in a college town you could find enough furniture on the side of the road to fill up whole neighborhoods. And then we turn around and question why the rest of the world hates us! Friends and associates have tried to convince me that this is all just conspiracy bs, it isn't what happened, but this is coming from people who are convinced that Sodium Fluoride is good for your teeth and that's why its in our whole country's water supply. Sorry, off topic, but the point is that while many americans are brainwashed zombies there are a few of us who see what is happening and are searching for the means to stop it, but its hard when so many other countries are in on it. That's right, it isn't just America, share the blame a little with Britain, Saudi Arabia, and any other country that's received a piece of proverbial pie, and don't forget those multinational corps. who get all the business as a result of these deals.

So vinay, in closing i hope you look into these kinds of things instead of just banging out a poorly written article that does nothing but point a finger. (and for your information, anybody who can't find india on a map is no friend of mine)

I like your article it stresses out the truth, in fact American imperialism is a selfish move to exploit other poor nations for it own good but we are working to end that.
